Welcome to Dales Heart

Our Aims

One factor which can help in the adjustment to life after heart problems is the availability of other people to talk to, who have already been through the process and can listen to your concerns, offer advice based on their own experience, and encourage and support you in returning to whatever activities you want to pursue.

The Dales Heart Cardiac Support Group aims to do just that. It is there to help people who have had heart attacks or other heart disease, their spouses, partners or carers, by providing a regular chance to meet, discuss whatever may be worrying you, and take part in activities together. There is usually a speaker, and we have covered topics ranging from walking in the Derwent valley and the history of the Cromford and High Peak Railway, to the history of the Blood Transfusion Service, and current developments in the treatment of heart disease (see our programme). There is always a chance for members to mix socially, to talk about issues related to our health or the weather or anything else of interest. We also organise walks or visits to attractions such as Crown Derby and Burrows Gardens, in addition to the monthly meetings.
